simpleSF2 0.7.1 Latest

  • Three new themes in Settings: Luna (blue title bar, beige panels, Tahoma), Paper (light and flat with one coral accent) and Noir (black, square corners, lime accent).
  • The version number now shows next to the logo.

simpleSF2 0.7.0

  • Much fuller SFZ support. SFZ instruments now play almost everything the format offers: oscillators, flexible envelopes and LFOs, a second filter and EQ, effects, round robins, key switches and other conditions, and CC control.
  • New Controls tab. An SFZ's labelled knobs and articulations show up in their own tab, grouped into sections the way sforzando shows them.
  • Separate outputs. SFZ instruments that send regions to different outputs can now be mixed on separate tracks in your DAW.
  • Projects saved with older versions sound the same.
  • Program changes now switch presets per channel in Cakewalk Sonar, and the Channels tab shows the preset each channel switched to.

  • Opening an older project no longer brings back banks you removed since, which showed “The imported instrument is missing from local storage”.
  • New Library List setting in Settings: each project can use the shared library or keep its own list.
  • GS variation sounds now play, so GS MIDI files pick the right variation instead of falling back to the main sound.

  • simpleSF2 now comes as a CLAP plugin for Bitwig, REAPER, FL Studio and other CLAP hosts. The Mac and Windows installers and the Linux .deb install it next to the VST3 (and AU on Mac).

  • MIDI program changes and bank select now switch presets per channel in VST3 hosts such as Cakewalk and REAPER, so General MIDI files play with the right instruments.

  • SF2 modulators. SoundFonts that shape tone and level with velocity or controllers, such as GeneralUser GS, now sound as their makers intended, matching FluidSynth.
  • Velocity follows the SF2 and SFZ default curve, so soft notes are as quiet as they should be.
