What we make
- simpleSF2 is a SoundFont player plugin. It loads SF2 and SFZ files directly, so you can browse banks and presets in your DAW without converting anything.
- simpleSPU is a PS1-style synth and effect plugin modelled on the PlayStation sound chip: 4-bit ADPCM samples, Gaussian interpolation and the chip's reverb.
Both are C++ plugins built with the JUCE framework. Every release ships as an Audio Unit and VST3 on macOS, a VST3 on Windows, and a VST3 and installer package on Linux.
How the guides are tested
- Steps are followed in the DAW they describe. Each guide is worked through with the current simpleSF2 release, and the screenshots are captured from that run. Captions say which DAW version and setup a screenshot came from.
- Claims about a DAW are checked against its maker's documentation. Where a guide says what a DAW can or can't do on its own, such as whether it imports SF2 files, it links the official help page that says so.
- Guides are re-checked when a DAW changes. When a major DAW update changes menus, plugin settings or SoundFont support, the guide is updated and its "Updated" date changes with it.
The guides cover Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio and Reaper, plus an explainer on what an SF2 file is. See all guides.
